We Bohlieve

After a devastating triple overtime loss at UNLV, the Cowboys were ready to bounce back. Their goal was to go 1-0 each week. No longer undefeated in Mountain West play, the last two games of the season meant everything. With a win out the Cowboys would secure their spot in the MW Championship game. If not, their fate would be in the hands of other teams.

It would be a battle of the best defense vs the best offense in the Mountain West.  The opposing team, ranked 24, was looking for their 21st consecutive conference win, and the Cowboys were looking to break that. While everything was on the line for the Cowboys, the opposing team had already secured their spot at the top of the West division. In addition, this was Wyoming's last regular season home game and senior day. What a better way to send off the seniors than with a big win. But it would be a tough game, and the Cowboys were ready.

November 19, 2016, Wyoming v. San Diego State University, 1:30pm, War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, Wy. CBSSN.

Pregame this weekend would include a farewell to the seniors. These boys had stuck it out through a major coaching change while many others had left. They had worked so hard, helping to turn this program around while leading this team to seven victories this season.

The game was set to begin. San Diego would receive the ball. Wyoming was unable to stop the returner. First play of the game. Touchdown San Diego. 7-0. The Cowboys quickly responded, moving the ball down the field, scoring a field goal. 7-3. But that would be all for the first quarter.

As the Cowboys continued to move the ball at the beginning of the second quarter, Allen threw an interception, placing the Aztecs on the 13 yard line. The Wyoming defense would hold the Aztecs, resulting in a field goal. 10-3. The Cowboys would respond, moving down the field, finishing with a touchdown from Brian Hill to tie the game. 10-10. But with 9 seconds left in the half, San Diego would throw a touch down pass. 17-10. Half time.

The team would return to the field to play the second half. Wyoming would receive the field goal. Eager to tie the game, the Cowboys quickly made their way down the field, scoring another touchdown. 17-17. But it quickly seemed like the first half was repeating itself. San Diego would receive the kick, running it all the way down the field for a punt return. 24-17. After a little back and forth, with 5:10 left in the third quarter, San Diego fumbled the ball. Wyoming recovered! The Cowboys would aim for a touchdown, but instead end with a field goal. 24-20.

The third quarter would come to an end. With 15 minutes left to play, it was all or nothing. And both teams gave it their all. San Diego would score a field goal. Aztec's up 27-20. The Cowboys would respond with some amazing long passes, ending in a touchdown pass to Maulhardt. All tied up. 27-27. The Wyoming defense would hold the Aztecs and the offense would once again take possession. With just over a minute left in the game, in an attempt to win, Josh Allen would throw the ball 40 yards. C.J. Johnson would be in the end zone, ready for the catch. It was good. Wyoming was up 27-34.

With just one minute left, all the Wyoming defense would have to do was hold the Aztecs. San Diego would receive the ball, catching it at the end zone and running to the 20 yard line. But wait. The officials called the play under review. As the stadium awaited the call, the players got the fans excited and the entire stadium began chanting W-Y-O!! When the review came back, the returner was down at the 1 yard line. The ball would move back. SDSU would move the ball 27 yards in 9 seconds and Wyoming would follow with a sack on the next play. San Diego time out followed by a San Diego first down. 0:45 left in the game. Incomplete pass. 0:40. Throw to the 34 yard line with 0:29 left. Short run. Aztec timeout. 0:23. Short run. 0:16. San Diego timeout. SDSU first down on the 22 yard line with 0:09 left in the game. Play Clock malfunction. New time 0:08. Pass to the end zone. Incomplete. 0:01 seconds left in the game. San Diego with one last play and a hail mary throw to the end zone.

The stadium was going wild. Wyoming to call a timeout. The band playing the fight song. The fans clapping along. Chanting of W-Y-O!! The teams would take the field. Wyoming timeout. The team took the field once again. San Diego's QB to throw. 4 Aztecs and 5 Cowboys. The ball was in the air. It could be anyone's ball. The ball bounced around a few times. And..... Incomplete. 0:00

The cannon went off. The Cowboys had won the game. The team was quickly surrounded by fans rushing the field. The fans began celebrating. But behind all the celebrating was the official announcing the previous play of an incomplete pass was under review. The next thing we knew, everyone was being pushed off the field. The announcer asking for everyone to clear the field and return to their seats. Within all the chaos on the field, you couldn't hear this, and the players began spreading the word of an official review. The fans, cheerleaders, media, and team were pushed up between the stands and the edge of the field. Some of the fans returned to their seats. The cheer team went back to the opposite corner of the field. The play was still under review. The fans began chanting "Powder River, Let Er' Buck!!" San Diego players had begun celebrating on their sideline. No official call yet. The announcer was still telling fans to return to their seats.

The official took the field. The Aztec player maintained possession of the ball. The original call was overturned and the play was ruled a touch down. 33-34. 0:00 left on the clock. San Diego still had one more play. They would go for a 2 point conversion to win the game. With the announcer still requesting people return to their seats and fans still on the side of the field, the teams took the field for one last play. San Diego to throw the ball. But here comes Antonio Hull. He swats the ball out of the air. INCOMPLETE. Final. San Diego 33. Wyoming 34.

The Cowboys had won. For real this time. And for the second time that night, Wyoming rushed the field and celebrated. And for the second time this season, the Cowboys had beaten a ranked team.

The Cowboys would finish the regular season 8-3 overall, 6-1 in MW, and 6-0 at home. They would remain at the top of the Mountain division. With this win, Wyoming would knock SDSU out of the rankings and a chance at a New Years 6 Bowl. The Cowboys  would also be ranked 35th in the nation.

One more win and the Cowboys would secure their spot at the top of the Mountain Division and a place in MW championship game. It would all come down to next week.

I am thankful for Wyoming Department of Transportation. They do such a great job of keeping people safe. From maintaining roads, to plowing, and closing roads for safety, they make a difference. They work hard to keep snow off the roads and keep roads in good condition for drivers. They monitor the roads and driving conditions, sometimes making difficult decisions to close roads in order to keep drivers safe. I am thankful for the WYDOT phone app.

Cowboys Love Thier Guns

It had been a week since Wyoming's historic win against Boise. There was one month left of regular season football. Only 4 games. The Cowboys were looking to remain undefeated in MW play and undefeated at home. It was a rivalry dating back to 1903 which continued on an annual occurrence when the opposing team joined the Mountain West in 2013. Last year, Wyoming had lost 58-27 on the road and now they were looking for revenge. They hoped to win yet another trophy, a .50 caliber shotgun, in a game known as the "Bridger's Battle."

November 4, 2016, Wyoming v. Utah State University, 8:15pm, War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, Wy. ESPN2.

The game was off to a fast start. The Cowboys scored on their first possession of the game with a solid throw to Gentry. 7-0. The Cowboys scored yet again in first quarter with a run from Hill. 14-0. The first quarter came to a close with a fantastic throw to Conway. After switching end zones at quarter change, this possession would continue with a pass to Maulhardt in the end zone. 21-0 Utah State would come back and score. 21-7. After another great possession, Allen kept the ball and jumped over the pile into the end zone, scoring once more. 28-7. With just over one minute left in the first half, Utah completed a long pass. But Wyoming came in for the tackle, knocking the ball loose, and recovering for a turn over. This resulted in one last touchdown making the score 35-7 heading into half time.

After a rough start to the second half, the Aggie's had scored three times, making the score 35-28. But Josh Allen was ready to show off his running skills again. After running for 47 yards, Allen threw the ball for Hollister, who was wide open, for the touchdown. 42-28. With the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth, the Cowboys moved the ball down the field resulting in a field goal. 45-28. Utah would take over, but would throw an interception to Logan Wilson, Casper, Wy native. The Cowboys would take advantage of this and score once more to end the game. Final. 52-28. The opposite of last years score.

The team walked across the field towards the student section, shot gun in hand. The cheer team joined to sing Cowboy Joe.

The Wyoming Cowboys were now 7-2 over all, 5-0 in MW, and 5-0 at home. The Cowboys would remain at the top of the mountain division. The team would receive more votes this week, moving up to No. 31 in the coaches poll and 34 in AP. Time for the Next one.

GOD Remains in Control

November 8, 2016.
An immensely important day in the history of the United States of America. Election day. While many seemed concerned, I turned to the word.

"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God"
Romans 13:1

"Submit yourselves for the Lords sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to the governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God's slaves. Show power respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor."
1 Peter 2:13-17

"Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone."
Titus 3:1-2

"I urge, then, first of all, the petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quite lives in all godliness and holiness."
1 Timothy 2:1-2

God assures us in Romans, that all authority has been established by God. No mater the results, democratic or republican, God places our nations leaders in power. As stated in 1 Peter, as well as Titus, God commands us to submit to human power and to honor authority.
While God places individuals in positions of authority, he tells us in 1 Timothy to pray for those in authority.

As America waits and watches anxiously to see who the next president will be, I sit in peace. I know, that no matter the outcome, when I wake up tomorrow, God will still be King. He will remain in control, as he always has.

Attitude of Gratitude Day 8

November 8:
"Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!"
-Psalm 100:4

I am thankful that I live in the Unites States of America. Many times Americans take for granted all we have. The freedoms we have as American citizens are beyond compare. On this election day, I am reminded of these. I am thankful that I am able to speak my opinion. I am thankful that I am able to openly gather and worship the Lord. And I am thankful for our democracy and that we, the people of the United States of America, have a voice in our government and are able to vote.

Attitude of Gratitude Day 3

November 3:
"I will give to the LORD the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High."
-Psalms 7:17

I am thankful for the amazing Wyoming Cowboy fans. Their dedication and tradition is beyond compare.

Today marked the start of basketball season. One of the many amazing things that UW athletic does is host outreach games. Each year, teams will host a game in a different town within Wyoming. Tonight's game was a Men's Basketball outreach game in Torrington, Wy.

As we engage with fans, I hear so many fascinating stories. Stories from the 1950's football glory days to the 95 year old fan who had been going to games for 70 some years. The University of Wyoming fans are unlike any other. They are part of a dedicated and caring community based on deep tradition. Without the fans, UW would not be the same.

Attitude of Gratitude Day 1

As October comes to and end and November begins, people begin to shift their thoughts away from Halloween. As I observed people around me, in person and on social media, I realized that some seem to have forgotten a holiday. Many people went straight from Halloween to Christmas. They seem to have overlooked Thanksgiving.

Personally, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is so important to take time to be thankful. Giving thanks should be a daily occurrence, but setting aside a whole day to give thanks and spend time with loved ones is amazing.

In order to focus on all the things I am thankful for this month, I will be participating in the #Attitudeofgratitudechallenge. I will be sharing one thing I am thankful for each day. In addition, I will also share a verse about giving thanks.

November 1:
"Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples."
 -1 Chronicles 16:8
I am thankful for my car. Although it may not be brand new, it does the job. I also thankful that it has been running and not having issues.
