As you look at the date, you may think this is a Halloween post. Nope. In fact I'm currently watching Disney movies, eating pizza and doing homework.
Today marks one year since I began this blog. Wow!! I've truly enjoyed sharing with everyone. Thank you all for reading. Can't wait to share more with you.
Until next time

History in the making
With one more road win at Nevada, the Cowboys were 5-2 overall and 3-0 in Mountain West. This is the first time Wyoming has started 3-0 in MW play since they joined the conference when it formed back in 1999. This past week, the Cowboys receive a vote in the national Coaches Poll, ranking us at No. 40. Now that's not super impressive, but its a big deal for UW fans. Last year we were the 9th worst team in the nation. But times have changed and Wyoming football in on the rise.
Wyoming had a big weekend ahead of them. This Saturday's game would be the biggest game played in War Memorial Stadium in years. Both teams enter the game undefeated in conference. The winner of this game would take possession of the Mountain Division. But it would be a battle. Over ten games, the Cowboys had never won this match-up. But the competition, ranked 13th in the nation, seemed to be loosing steam. They had barley won their last two games, beating CSU by 5 points and BYU by 1.
October 29, 2016, Wyoming v. Boise State University, 5:00pm, War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, Wy. CBS Sports.
It was game day. The tailgaters were out in full force. The stadium was packed with energized fans. The first quarter was unproductive for the Cowboys offense, as they did not score. The first score of the game came from Boise off an interception and a few quick plays. 7-0.
The second quarter began. Wyoming would move the ball down field. As they entered the red zone, they found themselves at the 1 yard line on fourth down. They would go for it. But the Broncos defense was ready, and the Cowboys came up short. Boise took possession and moved the ball to score. 14-0. After a successful drive down the field, Allen threw to the end zone for the catch by Hollister. 14-7. The Broncos responded with a quick touch down. 21-7. The Cowboys got the ball again. Moving down the field, they were unable to to convert the third down. Rothe took the field, kicking a 40-yard field goal. 21-10. With a minute and a half left in the first half, Boise had the ball. The quarterback made a long throw down field. Who was there to make the catch? Wyoming's Rico Gafford. Interception. The ball was returned back to the original line of scrimmage. With under a minute left, Allen threw the ball, Hollister with the catch, Touchdown. 21-17. The first half was over. Wyoming was only down by 4 points.
The teams returned to the field for the second half. Both team came out fighting, but no one scored in the third quarter. As we entered the fourth quarter, the cowboys were still down, 21-17. The quarter started with a Wyoming field goal bringing the score to 21-20. One point. The Cowboys were so close. Boise responded, using our own trick play on us, scoring yet again. 28-20. With ten minutes left in the game, the pressure was on. The Cowboys pushed down the field with some amazing throws. With seven minutes left, the Broncos defense placed pressure on Allen. Allen moved out of the pocket. Looking down field, he found his receiver. He threw. Tanner Gentry with the catch in the back of the end zone. 28-26. The Cowboys decoded to go for the 2 point conversion. A risky move. Allen threw the ball. Maulhardt with the catch. Its good. The Cowboys had tied the game. 28-28. The crowd erupted with excitement. The Broncos got the ball. With 1:32 left in the game, Boise was on their 10 yard line. The defense applied pressure. Appleby got threw the line. The quarterback began to throw, but Appleby ran into him, knocking the ball loose. The ball bounced through the end zone and out the back of the field. All around the stadium people had their hands above their heads in what looked like teepees. The players were dancing on the field. Safety Dance (Video). The Cowboys had just scored a safety. Two points. The Cowboys were up. 28-30.
The crowd was going wild. The excitement in the War was beyond belief. The Cowboys could win the game. The Broncos would have to kick the ball. They decided to go for an on-side kick. Wyoming recovered. The Cowboys lined up in victory formation. And with 30 seconds left on the clock, the students stormed the field, engulfing the team and coaches in a wild celebration. The fans chanting W-Y-O!!! W-Y-O!!! W-Y-O!!! Wyoming v Boise game ending. (Video)
Final. Boise 28 Wyoming 30.
Boise would drop to 24 in the AP rankings, and the Cowboys would receive 5 votes, coming in at 33.
With this win, the Cowboys had not only made history by beating Boise for the first time, but they also took control of the MW Mountain division. If the Cowboys continued to win, they could be playing in the championship game. This was also the first time since 2002 that the Pokes had beaten a ranked team. To add to the excitement and historic game, the Cowboys were now 4-0 in MW, and 6-2 overall. This was their sixth win. The Cowboys were now bowl eligible. Wyoming is going Bohling!!
As Wyoming Governor Matt Mead said earlier in the day, "So today when we say go pokes, we know the pokes are going."
Until next time,
Ashley

October 22, 2016
As I sit here watching the Wyoming @ Nevada football game, I have a knot in my stomach. It's accompanied by a slight bit of excitement and uncertainty. For the last four and a half years, I have had the same job. But today, I threw out the skates and hung up the apron. Today was my last day at Sonic Drive-in.
Everyone remembers their first job, but few end up sticking with that job. When I began looking for my first job at 16, Sonic was not my initial go to. In fact, I didn't even want to work in fast food. I didn't know much about Sonic except that I loved their ice cream.
May 1, 2012. My first day at my first job. To say the least it was rough. It was a busy summer day and I was left to figure out drive through. I remember the GM telling me I needed to be faster and continually yelling demands. Trying my best, I became completely overwhelmed and began crying. I called my mom on my break and told her I couldn't do it. She convinced me to stick it out for a week. After that week, I decided to stay, and never seemed to leave. I continued to work at Sonic through high school. When I decided to go to the University of Wyoming in Laramie, I knew they had a Sonic, and I would need to keep working in college. In June 2014, I officially "transferred" from Colorado Springs to Laramie.
During the summer of 2016, Laramie experienced a drastic management change. While I had gone through seven other manager changes, this one was different. I did not agree with how the store was being ran, and the assistant GM butted heads with everyone. I decided I was going to apply at Basic Beginnings. After two months of not hearing anything, I received a call for an interview. A few weeks later, I accepted a position and began my new job. I decided that I would work both jobs, Basic during the week, and Sonic on the weekends. Five weeks into semester, after having talked to my mom about it multiple times, I decided I was going to quit my job at Sonic.
This was a big decision. I was leaving behind four and a half years of my life.
After four and a half years, five summer of shakes, four freezing winters, two locations, nine different GM's, three owners, two different colored shirts, three pairs of pants, two aprons, two hats, two name tags, two pairs of skates, and three pairs of shoes, I am officially done.
I will never have to put that uniform on again. Never smell like fast food. Never take another order. Never make another cherry limeade. Never count down another changer.
Over the last four and a half years, I have learned some valuable lessons.
-You will always have supervisors and co-workers you do not like. You just have to learn how to work with them and not let them bother you.
-Most of the time, lime juice stings worse and longer than lemon juice.
-The customer is not always right. In fact, sometimes they are completely wrong.
-Being able to count back change is a valuable life skill, as both an employee and a consumer.
-Take things one step at a time. It's easy to become overwhelmed. It's important to focus on one thing at a time.
-Always tip your severs, including carhops. They deserve it.
-Try to always have fun, no matter what you are doing.
-And most importantly. Glorify God!!
Working at Sonic was a great overall experience. I met some great people and have some amazing memories. Thank you to everyone involved.
Until next time,
Ashley

Once A Cowboy, Always a Cowboy
How could Fall get any better. Amazing smells, yummy food, perfect weather, fall apparel, changing colors, AND football. Fall was in full swing in Laramie, and so was Wyoming Cowboy football. It was time for another Cowboys football game.
What's better than one rivalry? Two. And even better than that? Having one right after another. Last week the Cowboys beat Colorado State and claimed the Bronze Boot. This week it was time for another rivalry game. This match-up would mark the 55th meeting of the two teams. Although 200 miles away, the rivalry was no less. The Cowboys had won two years ago at home but lost last year while away. They entered this week 3-2, while the opposing team was 4-0. Excitement was high and my desire for us to win was even higher. It was Homecoming week!!!
October 8, 2016, Wyoming v. Air Force Academy, 1:30pm, War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, Wy. Root Sports.
Playing my hometown team is always interesting. Last year I traveled to the Air Force game in Colorado Springs. I was cheering for the away team in my hometown. Earlier in the week, I called my dad and he told me we better win. When I asked why, he informed me that the radio stations had been talking crap about Wyoming all week. In addition to that, last week the Falcons beat Navy, and being a Navy brat, you could say I was a little bitter.
Saturday started bright and early. We reported for the Homecoming parade at 8:15 on campus. We meet up with the junior cheerleaders who walked in the parade with us. After the parade, everyone headed to the field house to prepare for the game.
As we began to stretch the Air Force cheer and dance team arrived. We finished our warm-up and let Air Force take the mat. After everyone was done warming up, we did a combined team lib-line, took a group photo, and wished each other good luck. It was game time.
The War was packed with nearly 27,000 fans. The largest crowd since 2011. The game was sure to be exciting. The first quarter got off to a quick start. The Cowboys had a few amazing plays resulting in them moving down the field. The Cowboys got the first score of the game with a touchdown throw to the end zone. The score remained the same when the defense got a sack and then an interception.
The Cowboys entered the second quarter up 7-0 on Air Force. The Falcons moved the ball downfield, but the Wyoming defense held them to a field goal. 7-3. The Cowboys responded with yet another throw to the end zone. Touchdown. 14-3. And again the Falcons scored on a long field goal. 14-6 headed into half time.
The Cowboys came back after the half with a quick start. The Falcons received the ball, and our defense was ready. With only three minutes into the half, Wyoming forced a fumble, recovered and ran to the end zone. 21-6. The defense continued to hold the Falcons. The Wyoming offense was back on the field. Allen threw back to the line of scrimmage, which was then ran into the end zone. Touchdown. 28-6 But the Falcons quickly responded with a great throw that was ran to the end zone. 28-13. The third quarter ended in yet another Wyoming defense interception.
Only 15 minutes left in the amazing Homecoming game. Air Force was ready to fight. And fight they did. Air Force scored twice in the fourth quarter. 28-26. Air Force would go for a 2 point conversion on their second touchdown. But the Cowboy special team was ready. Denied. The score stands. With 3:31 left in the game, Air Force attempted an on-side kick. But the kick went straight to the Wyoming special teams. Cowboy ball on the 36 yard line. The Cowboys marched straight to the end zone. 35-26. All the Cowboys had to do was keep Air Force from scoring with two minutes left. And the defense made the play. Another interception. With just seconds left on the clock the entire stadium started chanting W-Y-O! W-Y-O! W-Y-O! The Cowboys got into victory formation. Final Score 35-26. The football and cheer team gathered in front of the student section for the singing of Ragtime Cowboy Joe.
The Wyoming Cowboys came away with an amazing homecoming win. Wyoming had swept the state of Colorado.
The Cowboys would enter their bye week at 4-2 overall, 2-0 in MW and undefeated at home.
Once a Cowboy, Always a Cowboy!

Boot are for Cowboys
The Cowboys had traveled to play Eastern Michigan on Friday September 23. The Cowboys fought hard, but came up just short of the win. They were now 2-2.
It was another amazing weekend for Cowboy football. This week marked the start of Mountain West conference play.
As the week began, the excitement started to build. The fans were ready for a great game. The Cowboys were ready to claim their first road win. With only 65 miles between these two Universities and the longest continuously played rivalry west of the Mississippi it was sure to be a good game. This year marked the 108th meeting of these two teams, and the Cowboys hadn't won in three years. Who would win the Bronze Boot?
October 1, 2016, Wyoming @ Colorado State University, 8:15pm, Hughes Stadium, Fort Collins, Co. ESPNU
I had plans to meet my mom and brother at my grandparents house in northern Colorado. Saturday morning my mom and I headed towards the mountain to look at the changing trees. We really didn't have a plan. We found ourselves in Rist Canyon and headed towards Hosetooth Reservoir. As we entered back into Fort Collins, we drove by the stadium. There seemed to be no fan activity, but a very visible Wyoming Football truck.
We drove into downtown Fort Collins and found somewhere to eat. As we sat at a table outside, I observed everyone walking by. Many were wearing CSU colors, but a few wear proudly sporting the unique colors of the Brown and Gold. I had worn my 2015 Boarder War "Open Season" Shirt.
We returned to my grandparent house. I talked to some family members and spent the day with my cousin Kaycee. Later in the afternoon, I watched the last set of the volleyball game on my phone, quietly cheering as Utah State took the Cowgirls to 32 points in the 3rd set for a Cowgirl win.
At 8:15 I went inside to watch the football game. The Bronze Boot Boarder War rival game had begun. As I began watching, you could really see some significant improvements. The offense was moving the ball and making big plays. They were able to complete some long passes, and open holes for the run games. However, the defense got off to a slow start. The 1st quarter ended with a score of Wyoming 3 CSU 14.
With a few amazing runs, Brian Hill and the offense ran the ball to the five yard line. Hill had broken the all time rushing record for the Cowboys, five games into his junior year. The Cowboys finished the drive with a hand-off to Wick for a five yard run into the end zone. Score. 10-14.
CSU received the ball on their 25 yards line. They went to run the ball. But wait. The ball was suddenly in the hands of #6, Wyoming's Marcus Epps. The Cowboys had the ball on the CSU 25. What came next was something no one, not even the CSU defense, expected. The ball was snapped. Allen handed off to Hill. Hill tossed it back to Austin Conway. Conway tossed it back to Allen. Allen looked down field. He threw the ball 40 yards to Tanner Gentry in the end zone. Touchdown!!! Score. 17-14.
The 2nd quarter ended with another big defensive play. The CSU quarterback was under pressure. He threw the ball, but it was quickly intercepted by Chase Appleby. With no one to stop him, Appleby ran all the way to the end zone. Yet another touchdown. Score. 24-14. CSU added a field goal and the game entered half time 24-17.
The second half began with a slow start. The end of the 3rd quarter came around. Allen thew the ball to Drew Van Maanen, the fullback, who ran 20 yards, into CSU territory. The ball was then handed off to Hill. Finding a very small hole in the middle, Hill took off down field and was ran out of bounds at the 2 yard line. With a quick run play, Hill was in the end zone. Touchdown. Score. 31-17.
But the 3rd quarter wasn't over yet. The Cowboys were in position yet again. A few quick throw and run plays had the Cowboys positioned at the 18 yard line. Allen kept the ball, he ran to the end zone. Touchdown. Score. 38-17.
Midway through the 4th quarter the special teams had an amazing play. Ethan Wood kicked the ball. It looked like it was going to be a touch back. Nope. The Cowboys downed the ball at the 1 yard line.
With 30 seconds left in the game, the Wyoming Cowboys took off toward the end of the field in a dead sprint. What were they after you may wonder? Well, the Bronze Boot of course. The team gathered in the corner of the stadium, celebrating, Bronze Boot trophy lifted high in the air in the middle of the team.
The celebration continued as the team headed to sing Ragtime Cowboy Joe in front of the fans, with the Boot raised high in the air.
Final Score. Wyoming 38. Colorado State 17. Wyoming had beat CSU for the first time in three years. The Cowboys advanced to 3-2. The Boot was going back to Laramie where it belong, and it still sucked to be a CSU Ram. As Josh Allen said, "Boots are for Cowboys."
Until next time,
Ashley

How do you respond?
Coming home after a devastating loss can be rough. The fans may be doubtful, unexcited and reluctant to attend the game. The team was 1-1. How would they respond to last week? The outcome of this game could determine the rest of the season. Would we lose and have a loosing record? Would we win and have a winning record, remaining undefeated at home? We were predicted to win. But for the Cowboys, that meant nothing. Last season, we lost the games we were predicted to win. The team knew they had to stay humble and hungry. And they sure were.
September 17, 2016, Wyoming v UC-Davis, 2:00pm, War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, Wy.
We arrived at 11:00 and headed to Cowboy walk. This week was coed's turn to walk around the tailgate, interacting with fans and selling raffle tickets. As Western Thunder and the all girl cheerleaders entered the tailgate area, coed joined them, escorting the football team to the stadium. We returned inside and began warming-up for the game. We focused, as we needed to change our pyramids due to a teammate who was out of town.
We headed to the field for pregame, running to our spots on the field. It was the first pregame of the season, as we did not do pregame for the first game due to the rain delay. I was excited to be back in the middle of the field performing alongside my team. When we finished pregame, we ran to the corner of the field and the entire stadium cheered as the football team ran onto the field. It was officially game time.
The Cowboys started the game on a great note, with an touchdown early in the first quarter, followed by a defensive interception and huge return to the red zone, resulting yet another touchdown. Up 14-0. The Cowboys continued to fight hard throughout the 1st half. With the addition of two long throws to the end zone, and a huge run play to the end zone, the Cowboys had added three more touchdowns. 34-9 headed into halftime.
After a much slower start to the second half and an Aggie touchdown, the Cowboys offense was back on the field. The Cowboys were in the red zone yet again. This time the touchdown came in form of a QB keep. Now for the defense. They took the field, holding the Aggies, applying pressure on the 3rd down. The ball was aimlessly thrown. Cowboys recover, but were only able to get a field goal. An uneventful 4th quarter resulted in an Aggies score. The game came to a close.
Final score. Wyoming 45. UC-Davis 22. The Cowboys had won and advanced to 2-1. A winning record and remained undefeated at home. We ran across the field and joined the team in the singing of Ragtime Cowboy Joe in front of the amazing fans. Yet another successful home game.
